Giampiero Ventura TorinoTorino coach Giampiero Ventura believes that his side’s poor first-half performance was too much to overcome as the Granata battled back for a 2-2 draw with Hellas Verona on Sunday afternoon.

Il Toro have shown much resilience this season, overturning deficits to beat Frosinone and Fiorentina in their opening two fixtures, and they came from behind twice to earn a point at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

“It’s good that we responded but compared to the other comebacks, this was our worst performance”, the 67-year-old told reporters after the match.

“The injury to [Danilo] Avelar didn’t help but there are no excuses for playing so badly in the first half.”

The coach then defended new signing Andrea Belotti.

“I’m sorry for Belotti who made his debut in our worst game but he will find a way to bounce back.”
