walter mazzarri - napoliFormer Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri is among the favourites to succeed under pressure Roma boss Rudi Garcia if the Frenchman fails to avoid the sack.

Garcia has come under considerable pressure after poor results in recent league matches against Sassuolo and Sampdoria was followed up by a humiliating defeat to Belorussian side BATE Borisov in the Champions League which has left the Giallorossi rooted to the bottom of their group.

According to Radio Marte, former Inter and Napoli coach Mazzarri is now the Lupi’s number one target should Garcia fail to revive the club’s fortunes in the immediate future.

However, the 53-year-old Italian who was recently linked with Liverpool is also one of the leading candidate for Premier League strugglers Sunderland.

The former Inter boss would not turn down a move to England according to his agent Andrea D’Amico.

“He’s continually trying to improve himself and is currently learning English very well,” D’Amico told the website FC Inter News.

“The Premier League? It’s difficult to say, Mazzarri is a coach of the highest level and what is important is that the project is right for him, not the location.

“Football nowadays has become about working at different levels, and Walter deserves to work at a high level.”
