Vazquez - Sassuolo v PalermoPalermo president Maurizio Zamparini has revealed that he turned down a €20 million offer for his star man Franco Vazquez during the recent transfer window.

Vazquez had been heavily linked with a move away from the Sicilian outfit with the likes of AC Milan and Juventus reportedly interested over the summer, however it was his compatriot, Paulo Dybala, who sealed a big money move to the Bianconeri and prompted Zamparini to hold firm on Vazquez.

“On the last day of the transfer window we rejected a €20m offer for Vazquez,” Zamparini told Radio Crc.

“The offer didn’t come from Napoli, but from a team that is just as strong and has more money.

“Franco [Vazquez] for me is worth a lot, something like the €40m that Juventus paid for Dybala.

“Napoli also asked me about Aljaz Struna however I spoke with [Napoli sporting director] Cristiano Giuntoli and told him he is not for sale.”

The 74-year-old also briefly addressed the Rosanero’s strong start to the season.

“I don’t want to say too much, but I hope to get to Europe,” concluded Zamparini.
