AC Milan completed a narrow 1-0 victory over Chievo at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wedesnday night in Serie A.

Full-back Luca Antonelli was the unlikely goalscorer in a game where the Rossoneri peppered Albano Bizzarri in the Chievo goal.

The Rossoneri were the first to threaten. A cross from Alessio Cerci was well met by Andrea Bertolacci in the area, but the midfielder couldn’t direct his header on target. Then the provider tried his hand, with Cerci coming close to curling it into the top corner from inside the area, but he saw his effort sail past the post.

The Flying Donkeys put the hosts under pressure at the end of the half. A free kick from Valter Birsa found Sergio Pellissier in the box, but Gianluigi Donnarumma thrust his arm up to tip the striker’s effort over the bar.

In the second half Milan regained some composure. Juraj Kucka connected brilliantly from a Giacomo Bonaventura free kick, but Albano Bizzarri made a brilliant save to deny him. However, despite his heroics, the Argentinian was undone by Luca Antonelli. The full-back ghosted into the area, received the ball from Carlos Bacca and curled it into the bottom corner.

Alberto Paloschi tried to give Chievo an avenue to reply, but Donnarumma denied him with a point-blank save. At the other end, Cerci came close when Bonaventura drove the ball across the face of goal, but he couldn’t reach the ball in time.

Kucka had a multitude of chances on the edge of the area, all of which went wide. He had one last chance from a corner, which he headed just wide. The Rossoneri saw off the late pressure from the visitors and held on to take all three points.
