Lazio at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia on Wednesday night in Serie A meaning the Biancocelesti still only have one win on the road this season.

A glorious Lucas Biglia free-kick gave the away side ahead after quarter of an hour but an unfortunate own goal from Dusan Basta made it 1-1 after the break before Alejandro Gomez completed the turnaround late on.

It didn’t take long for either goal to be attacked but it was nearly an own goal that opened the scoring when Andrea Masiello’s clearance went whiskers wide of his own post following a Lazio attack.

Masiello was called upon in defence once more and this time gave away a free-kick on the edge of the area which fell to the away side’s captain Biglia, who broke the deadlock with a wonderfully struck shot that floated past Marco Sportiello in between the Atalanta sticks.

La Dea began to find their attacking boots in the second half with Federico Marchetti’s goal being threatened for one of the first times when Mauricio Pinilla attempted a volley but the tight angle meant it fizzed wide.

It was an own goal, though, that brought the home side level when a low cross across the face of goal from Alejandro Gomez caught the feet of Dusan Basta and he could do nothing to prevent the ball rolling into the net.

A terrific second half comeback by the hosts was complete when Gomez scored himself four minutes from time with a brilliant shot which flew into the top corner.

The victory for Edoardo Reja, who once coached Lazio, puts his side in eighth place in Serie A, while Lazio drop to sixth.
