Roma former left-back Federico Balzaretti is remaining hopeful regarding the Giallorossi’s Champions League campaign despite slumping to last place in Group E following a spectacular draw 4-4 against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday evening.
The Giallorossi fell behind by a two-goal margin before scoring two goals in each half to lead 4-2. However, the hosts managed to score two late goals to share the spoils.
And the former Roma full-back is adamant that the club can scamper back to qualify for the knock-out stages
“We had the three points in our bag, but passing the group stage is still within our reach,” Balzaretti said to Mediaset.
“The coach [Rudi Garcia] has said that Roma still has to improve, he knows they have to do better than this. This draw has been perceived as a defeat: it just means they wanted to win”.
Roma are currently preparing for their next Serie A outing against Fiorentina on October 26.
