Pazzini Verona UdineseHellas Verona drew with Udinese in the first game back after the international break.

The Gialloblu pressed hard early on and were rewarded with a penalty just before half time, which Giampaolo Pazzini converted. Udinese came back strongly in the second half and equalised on the 84th minute through Cyril Thereau.

The home side started off the brighter of the two with Udinese struggling to get out of their own half and goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis having to be alert on several occasions.

Francesco Lodi tried to get Udinese into the game by providing a creative impetus but it would be the Mastini who would take the lead just before half time.

Molla Wague fouled Luca Siligardi in the penalty area and referee Claudio Gavillucci pointed to the spot. Pazzini stepped up and ruthlessly dispatched the penalty for his first goal since his summer move from AC Milan.

Stefano Colantuono’s men tried to look for the equaliser in the second half but the Verona defence proved to be stubborn to their attacks.

Udinese kept plugging away but could not break the Verona defence down until six minutes from time when substitute Thereau popped up in the right place at the right time and capitalised on a moment of indecisiveness from Verona keeper Rafael to net the equaliser.

Both sides could have potentially won the game in the final minutes but ultimately the game finished in a draw.

Verona are in the relegation zone, two points from safety and the team are still winless, whilst Udinese sit in 15th place.
