Roberto Mancini InterInter coach Roberto Mancini said both sides made for an entertaining game following his side’s narrow 1-0 victory over Roma.

Gary Medel’s superb first-half strike on the half hour mark was enough to send the Nerazzurri top of Serie A by leapfrogging their opponents.

“At the end of the match I was exhausted,” Mancini told Premium Sport.

“Both sides produced a lot of chances.

“It was a great game.”

The main talking point before kick-off was that striker and reigning Capocannoniere Mauro Icardi was left out of the starting XI.

“It was a tactical decision to leave him [Icardi] out,” added Mancini.

“I wanted us to play without two strikers.

“He had no qualms about me leaving him out.

“As for [Samir] Handanovic he did exactly what is expected of him in goal.

“Just like what he did against Bologna in the final seconds last week.

“We have a great goalkeeper.”

The Inter coach concluded his interview when discussing the season as a whole and also the performances of full-backs Yuto Nagatomo and Danilo D’Ambrosio.

“After 11 games there have been five teams at the top,” Mancini went on.

“It will be a long and difficult season for every team.

“As for Nagatomo and D’Ambrosio I played them as we needed two strong and fast players.

“I’m happy for Danilo, he deserved his place in the team.”
