carpiSerie A side Carpi have been locked out of their rented home at the Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena.

The council own the stadium but the Biancorossi pay annual rent to Serie B’s Modena in order to play at the stadium as the Stadio Sandro Cabassi in Carpi does not meet Serie A’s standards.

According to the Gazzetta di Modena, the Carpi squad turned up to train on the pitch only to find that they had been locked out with Modena’s Primavera side using the facilities in their place.

It has been reported that the Canarini’s president Antonio Caliendo made the decision to prohibit the Serie A side from using the stadium because of money owed to the Gialloblu although Carpi insist that all payments have been made correctly.

The squad then travelled back to the Stadio Cabassi to carry out their work there while the club issued a statement describing Modena’s behaviour as “Unacceptable”.

Carpi are scheduled to play Bologna at the stadium on Saturday and it is not yet clear if the situation will be resolved by then and if the fixture could be at risk of postponement.
