Thiago Silva AC MilanParis Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has revealed the impact that Alessandro Nesta has upon his career during the two-year spell in which they played together at the Rossoneri.

The Brazilian International joined the Milanese club in 2009, and despite various complications at the beginning of his time in Serie A, he then went on to make 93 appearances for the club and has also praised coaches Carlo Ancelotti and Massimiliano Allegri for their guiding influence.

“When I arrived in Serie A I could not play for six months as the quota for foreign players was full,” Silva told AS.

“I leant a lot by watching Maldini, but also by following the instructions of great coaches like Ancelotti and Allegri.”

He continued: “When I started to play next to Nesta it was fantastic, he has an incredible elegance about him.”

“They were two crucial years for me and I noticed that my qualities improved considerably.”

Silva has also stated that despite leaving the club due to their lack of ambition, he still has fond memories of his time at Milan.

“I still have great respect and love for the Rossoneri colours,” Silva added.

“But in the last period of my career there, we stopped challenging for titles and I decided to go to PSG.

“Their project stuck me very straight away and since then it has all gone very fast.”
