Tottenham Hotspur’s Erik Lamela has rejected rumours linking him with a return to Italy, announcing his desire to stay with the North London outfit.

The Argentinian star made his €30 million move to White Hart Lane from Roma in the summer of 2013, though has since been linked to a vast array of clubs, with numerous Serie A sides including former team Roma and their rivals Inter reported to be interested. Lamela, however, has dispelled any talk linking him with a move back to the peninsula.

“Since I arrived [in London] everyone began talking about my departure,” Lamela told the London Evening Standard

“They said I would leave after the first year, then the second, and now the third.

“But I didn’t speak because there was nothing to say. My mind has always been here at Tottenham.

“I have never even thought of moving back to Roma, or even going to Inter.

“I have always wanted to stay here and I have always made that clear.

“It’s something I have said to my team-mates, to the club, to everyone.

“I feel good here, I like it. I am very happy.

“I feel I have adapted and my team-mates make me feel at home.”
