Gianfrnaco ZolaCalcio legend Gianfranco Zola has likened Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne to a youthful version of himself.

The former Napoli and Chelsea wizard is currently in Qatar on the latest leg of his coaching journey, but maintains that he still has time to keep an eye on Serie A, and has kind words on Insigne in particular.

“In Insigne I can see so many qualities that I had,” the Italian told RadioUno.

“Especially when I was beginning my professional career at Napoli, I was very strong in a one-on-one situation and very mobile.

“I was a player who, when I had the ball, could always make a difference. I see the same in Lorenzo,” he continued.

Insigne has had a very promising start to the season, thriving in a Napoli team who are scoring for fun under new coach Maurizio Sarri.

“I think he’s on the right path, and I hope he can continue on it,” he continued.

“The path of a player goes through good times and bad times, but I hope he can do it.”
