Josep Guardiola paid a visit to former team-mates and squad members of the Serie B side Brescia.

The highly-lauded Bayern Munich coach enjoyed a spell with the Rondinelle between 2001-2003, after moving to the Lombard club from European giants Barcelona, and has now been spotted enjoying a meal with his former colleagues at a restaurant in Brescia.

As reported by Tuttosport, the Spaniard took a break from training to travel to the northern Italian town and was immediately spotted by onlookers as he sat down for dinner with old friends on Thursday evening.

Both the club’s current coach Rocco Boscaglia and president Alessandro Triboldi are reported to have dined alongside, and despite his absence from the table, a mutual friend is said to have put Guardiola’s former coach Carlo Mazzone in contact.

“It is always a pleasure to return to a city that loved me and where I found myself surrounded by wonder. I love Italy, it’s a country of great charm,” Guardiola was quoted as saying although no official statement has yet been made.

Brescia striker Andrea Caracciolo posted a photo to his Facebook page, jokingly turning down Guardiola’s approaches for the Italian to join the Bundesliga side.

“No Pep I’m sorry, I won’t come to Bayern…” read Caracciolo’s humorous post.
