Carlo Sabatini, brother of Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini, has been relieved of his coaching duties by Serie B strugglers Como.

The Lombardy-based side have only managed to win once during their opening 11 games and remain at the foot of the table with just seven points, a string of results which has forced the club’s hierarchy into sacking coach Sabatini.

“The company has decided to remove the coach,” said the club’s sporting director Giovanni Dolci following a 1-1 draw to Modena on Saturday evening.

Sabatini has since revealed his great sadness at leaving the club which he achieved promotion from Lega Pro last season.

“This is a very sad day for me because only a few months ago we were celebrating promotion,” Sabatini told reporters.

“I could not have done more. I accept the decision of the club as unfortunately the league table speaks clearly.

“I thank the President for giving me this opportunity when I didn’t have a team and for keeping me on this summer. You will always be in my heart.”
