Drogba2Montreal Impact have denied reports that striker Didier Drogba will move to Italy at the end of the Major League Soccer playoffs.

The Ivorian star has been linked with a loan move to Bologna in January, as the Rossoblu’s owner Joey Saputo owns both the Italian and Canadian outfits.

However, the Canadian side have moved to categorically deny the rumours and have released a statement on their website.

“Rumours coming from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean suggested that Didier Drogba would play in Italy, more precisely on loan with Italian club Bologna F.C. after the MLS playoffs,”  read the statement from Montreal Impact.

“The Impact denied those rumours on Tuesday, originally reported by Italian media and newspapers who cover soccer almost exclusively, and on a daily basis.

“The Italian club, the Impact, nor Drogba have ever discussed this possibility.”

Drogba has scored 12 goals so far in the MLS, after only 11 appearances.
