Fiorentina EmpoliFiorentina coach Paulo Sousa was overjoyed with the response from his players in a 2-2 draw with Tuscan rivals Empoli.

Nikola Kalinic completed a comeback with a brace in the second half to cancel out Empoli goals from Marko Livaja and Marcel Buchel.

“We are very pleased with the comeback, not only the character to respond but the desire to win,” Sousa told Mediaset Premium.

“We made tactical adjustments at half time, but I believed in the quality of all of my players and we did well after the break.”

La Viola are level on points with Napoli at the summit of the Serie A table, but with Inter still to play they could drop to third.

“My job is to get the best out of my players and I think we can still improve,” Sousa added.

“When I arrived I wanted to understand the culture of the fans and I feel this comeback resonated with the supporters.”
