Fiorentina defender set to sign new contract

Marcos Alonso - FiorentinaFiorentina‘s Marcos Alonso is set to renew his contract with la Viola, after impressing so far this season.

His current deal expires in 2016, but both him and Fiorentina want to extend the Spaniard’s stay in Italy.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the proposed new deal would extend his contract for a further two years and could see his wages double.

Alonso currently earns €700,000 per year having signed a contract with Fiorentina in 2013.

New Fiorentina coach  Paulo Sousa has been impressed with Alonso so far this season in his 12 appearances for the club and is hopefully of getting the former Bolton man to sign a new contract.

Alonso’s agent, who is his father, was at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to watch Fiorentina beat Sampdoria earlier in the week, with Alonso coming back to play in Serie A after a three week lay off due to injury.

The presence of his agent at the game signifies the imminent contract renewal, according to Tuttosport.
