Matteo Kovacic - Inter's number 10.Former Inter midfielder Mateo Kovacic reflected kindly on his time at the Serie A club after winning an award for his efforts last season.

Speaking to FCInterNews.it, the website who awarded him the Golden Boy Nerazzurro trophy based on a reader poll, Kovacic had nothing but warm words for his former club and its fans.

“I want to thank all the fans for this trophy,” Kovacic stated.

“It was a pleasure and an honour to play for a big club like Inter.”

Rumours suggested after Kovacic left that he and coach Roberto Mancini did not see eye to eye on many things, though the Croatian international made no mention of any such disagreements in his gracious acceptance of the award.

“Thank you to all my coaches and to all the fans because it’s a beautiful thing to be voted for by them,” Kovacic added.

“I will always be an Interista, Forza Inter!!.”

The 21-year-old moved to Spanish giants Real Madrid over the summer after eighty appearances for the Nerazzurri over two and a half years.
