Frosinone GenoaFrosinone and Genoa drew 2-2 at the Stadio Matusa on Sunday afternoon as both sides pick up a point after an entertaining game.

The guests scored early on to take the lead through a Leonardo Pavoletti a strike, but the Ciociari made it 2-1 before the break with goals by Leonardo Blanchard and Modibo Diakitè, Genoa were reduced to ten men when Sebastian De Maio picked up a red card but in the second half Darko Lazovic hit the bar for the Grifone, before Serge Gakpe’s equalizer.

Genoa started the better side with Pavoletti giving the guests the lead after just six minutes guiding home a wonderful assist by Lazovic.

The Ciociari reacted well and found the equalizer thanks to a wonder goal by Blanchard who surprised everyone with a scissor kick to make it 1-1 after 31 minutes.

Roberto Stellone’s men put Genoa under pressure, with De Maio being sent off after receiving his second yellow card for a clear foul on Federico Dionisi.

The hosts then made it the 2-1 two minutes later on the 38th minute with Diakitè firing home from close range, following a scrappy build up in the Genoa box.

With an extra player and 2-1 up, Frosinone seemed in control of the game, only to disappoint their fans in the second half.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side first hit the bar on 69 minutes with a free kick by Lazovic, and then scored a late equaliser to make it 2-2 with Gakpe. The forward scored an easy tap-in with 15 minutes to go after another wonderful assist by Lazovic.

The home side wasted a great opportunity to take all three points against a Genoa side who were down to ten men, whilst the guests go home happy with a good point that takes them to the 15th spot in the Serie A table. Frosinone meanwhile are now in the relegation zone.
