Gasperini: Sassuolo deserve their position in the table

Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini believes Sassuolo have warranted their lofty league position ahead of Sunday’s match against the Neroverdi at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Sassuolo currently occupy fifth place in the Serie A table, with the 57-year-old aware of the talent in Eusebio Di Francesco’s squad.

“They are fifth in the table for a reason,” Gasperini told reporters in the build-up to the game.

“They have beaten some big teams this season. From what I have seen of them, they fully deserve their position in the table.

“I have only watched them on television and it is a different game when you are down alongside the pitch. They are doing very well as a club and have a project in place to help them be successful.”
