Gianluigi Buffon ItalyFollowing the attacks in Paris on Friday night, Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes the best way to commemorate the victims is by remaining united against terror.

A night of international football was overshadowed as more than 120 people were confirmed dead after a series of coordinated attacks throughout the French capital.

“The events in Paris are of unprecedented severity,” Buffon said when speaking to La Domenica Sportiva.

The Italian national team was playing an international friendly against Belgium when the attacks in Paris began.

“The events in Paris are the kind that have an impact on your heart, they make you feel exposed,” Buffon added.

“Even though it is right to say that we must not be afraid, that isn’t the reality.

“But we must all stick together.”

With the attacks occurring outside of the Stade de France where France were playing against Germany, Buffon was asked his thoughts on cancelling the next set of international friendlies, as Antonio Conte’s side prepares to host Romania in Bologna.

“Sport must continue, as should all other actives that stand as symbols of community, beauty, peace, and happiness,” Buffon concluded.
