Chiellini - JuventusJuventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has stated that it is still too early to think about the Scudetto race, and that instead the Bianconeri are focused on maintaining a presence in the Champion’s League, as they prepare for their fixture against Manchester City on Wednesday.

After a dismal start to the season, Juventus initially shelved talk of a fifth straight Scudetto, but have steadily climbed the table which sees them currently occupy sixth place, following a tough 1-0 victory over Milan and trail leaders Inter by just nine points.

“I think it’s still early to talk about the Scudetto,” Chiellini told Sky Sport Italia.

“Especially in our position, we need to take it game-by-game.

“We will try to keep chipping away points, but the lead group are going pretty strong.

“We have recovered some ground thanks to the last three victories, but the most important thing is for us to be consistent between now and Christmas.

“As the club stated earlier, our current goal is third place.”

The Italian international then compared his current Argentine teammate Paulo Dybala, who hit a stunning match winning goal against Milan, with Carlos Tevez who left Juventus last season to return to the Boca Juniors in Argentina.

“They are very different players, in terms of their shots, physical characteristics as well as their technically abilities,” he said.

“They are both remarkable players, but very different, I think Dybala shoots better from outside the area.

“The only things they really have in common is that they came to Juventus in succession, and they’re both strikers from Argentina.”

Chiellini concluded his interview by discussing the Old Lady’s upcoming Champion’s League match with Manchester City, who are experiencing a slight dip in form as they were thrashed at home by Liverpool on Saturday evening.

“Having essentially qualified, City should be relaxed, although following their weekend defeat they’ll be eager for redemption,” Chiellini admitted.

“I think it’ll be a great game, and hopefully we will secure our qualification as well.”
