mario gomezManchester United are reportedly keen on signing Fiorentina’s on-loan striker Mario Gomez.

Gomez was signed by the Viola from Bayern Munich in 2013, but failed to make the expected impact in Florence due to a combination of injuries and bad form, and he was eventually loaned out to Besiktas in the summer.

According to the Telegraph, The Red Devils have been alerted to the 30-year-old by the German’s impressive form this season for The Black Eagles after Gomez managed to score nine league goals since moving to Turkey.

Furthermore, United coach Louis van Gaal worked with Gomez whilst the pair were at Bayern Munich.

During his time at Fiorentina, Gomez managed to score just 14 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions, whereas at Bayern Munich he had been much more prolific, scoring 113 goals in 174 appearances.
