david villa pirloItalian midfielder Andrea Pirlo has been linked with a possible short-term loan to Turkish club Antalyaspor.

Since the conclusion of the Major League Soccer season in October, the Italian playmaker, who moved to New York City FC from Juventus last season, has been linked with a plethora of different moves, most notably to Inter, despite his own insistence that he plans on staying where he is.

However, in a surprise twist, Antalyaspor president Gulterkin Gencer has revealed that he believes the Italian will come and ply his trade in Turkey rather than make a return to Italy.

“We spoke with his agent and New York’s coach,” Gencer told Hurriyet.

“We believe that Pirlo would be happy to come and play eight matches in Turkey.”

Gencer added that such a move could earn the Italian international €2 million for the eight matches.

Pirlo was notably excluded from Antonio Conte’s most recent selection for the national team, and it was even suggested the midfielder may be left out of the squad for Euro 2016.

Conte also encouraged the midfielder to accept an off-season deal as a way of increasing his chances of rejoining the Azzurri, although it remains unclear if a move to Turkey would help.
