Lazio coach Stefano Pioli has motivated his team to come out big when they welcome a resurgent AC Milan side to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.

The Aquile have now lost four out of their five away fixtures in Serie A following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Atalanta midweek, where Lucas Biglia’s opening strike was cancelled out by Dusan Basta’s own goal and Alejandro Gomez’s late winner.

“Nothing happens by chance,” said Pioli during his pre-match press conference.

“We expect to approach the game tomorrow and the next [against Roma] in the right way. We need to understand what we must do to come out big.

“I expect a reaction, with the desire and the knowledge that this team has quality.”

The Italian coach then echoed the sentiments that he’s shared throughout the season considering Lazio’s need for growth.

“Between us and the big teams there is still a bit of a difference,” admitted Pioli.

“If we want to grow up we need to bridge this gap, we must have the same attitude for 95 minutes.”
