Pioli - LazioLazio coach Stefano Pioli refused to comment on the situation surrounding goalkeeper Federico Marchetti ahead of Sunday’s clash with Palermo.

The Biancocelesti will host the Sicilians as they bid to recapture their early season form, after losing their last three consecutive league games.

“We have used the international break to prepare ourselves, but I want to see the end results now,” Pioli told reporters.

“We need to be strong, determined and show character. We have to improve because our league position doesn’t reflect our quality.

“I want the players to treat the remaining 26 games in the right way, if the season ended today then it would be a total failure.”

Lazio currently sit in ninth position in the Serie A table, a long way from replicating their impressive third place finish in the previous campaign.

“All of my players are important, but no one is indispensable. I don’t have an inkling on who will leave in January,” Pioli added.

Federico Marchetti is understood to have rejected discussion of a contract renewal, fueling talk of a replacement keeper.

“The contractual aspects don’t concern me, as long as my players have the correct attitude,” concluded Pioli.

Lazio will be without the injured Stefan de Vrij and Stefano Mauri, but Miroslav Klose is available after recovering from injury.
