Napoli drubbed a helpless Midtjylland 5-0 at the Stadio San Paolo to guarantee top spot in Group D and book their ticket into the Europa League Round of 32.

Omar El Kaddouri and a Manolo Gabbiadini brace effectively ended the contest in the first half before Christian Maggio and Jose Callejon added two more after the interval to complete the rout.

For centre-backs, no news is usually good news. The Romanian formed one half of a very effective partnership.

Kalidou Koulibaly -7.5 – Imposing

The Frenchman won everything that came close to him, both on the ground and in the air.

Mirko Valdifiori – 7.5 – Visionary

It was an impressive passing display for the former Empoli man, getting the assist from a corner kick late in the match.

Marek Hamsik – 7 – Engine

Linked up very well with Insigne down the left. Put in a decent defensive shift as well.

David Lopez – 6.5 – Intelligent

Quietly effective, the Spaniard was credited with an assist for clever layoff on third goal.

Manolo Gabbiadini – 8.5 Man of the Match –

Higuain who? Very dangerous all night, scored two goals and got himself in positions in search of the hat trick.

Lorenzo Insigne – 7.5 – Imaginative

The catalyst for most of Napoli’s attacks until he was substituted. Got the assist in the opening goal.

Omar El Kaddouri – 8 -Involved

A goal and an assist to his name, with chances to further add to his tally.


Allan (53 min) – 6 – Effective

Solidified the midfield in the second half. Came close to scoring on a couple of occasions.

Jose Callejon (57 min) – 6.5 – Opportunist

Lively in his limited time. Converted a late header, though left completely unmarked.

Elseid Hysaj (70 min) – 6 – Committed

Completed every pass and contributed with a couple of tackles as well.
