Vlad Chiriches got the solitary goal that separated the two sides in front of no spectators due to the match being played behind closed doors.

“We wanted to get a result for our fans,” Preud’homme stated during his post match press conference.

“I am sorry for not being able to do that,” he added.

“It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t play this game with the support of our fans.

“They were still outside the stadium before the match to give us their best wishes and support.”

The Europa League dreams for Club Brugge aren’t over just yet, but they require Napoli to stop Legia from securing a win on the final matchday, as well as having to beat second place FC Midtjylland who sit two points above them.

“We could have done with a point and we nearly snatched one.”

“The team was well organised throughout, you could tell we had studied Napoli in-depth.

“It’s just a shame we conceded such a poor goal.

“There is, of course, still hope.”
