Roma defender Lucas Digne has admitted that it may be difficult for him to return to club football after terror attacks hit French capital Paris on Friday.

The 22-year-old, who being on loan from Paris Saint-Germain has family and interests in the city, was on international duty with his country when the attacks happened, with explosions outside of the Stade de France being heard on the pitch during their friendly against Germany.

In a display of solidarity, the French team agreed to continue with their schedule and travel to London to play a fixture against England, which was transformed into a memorial match for the victims of the Paris atrocity.

“I thank the British public, it was a demonstration of solidarity and shows that nothing can stop the football,” said the left back to Sky Sport Italia.

“It was touching to be at Wembley, where the entire crowd sang La Marseillaise.

“I know we’re at war, that France is at war, and I would ask for all the affected families to remain strong.”

As the international break has concluded the return of club football is on the horizon, with Roma playing Bologna this weekend.

“At present I know it will be very difficult to return to a game like the one against Bologna.”
