Leandro Castan - RomaRoma centre-back Leandro Castan could leave the Giallorossi in January on-loan to regain match fitness and confidence.

The former Corinthians defender was diagnosed with a condition known as cavernoma, a cluster of abnormal blood vessels, in September last year following a game against Empoli. The 29-year-old was substituted at half-time during that match suffering from dizziness.

The Brazilian returned to action at the start of the season but has only managed 180 minutes of action so far for I Lupi in Serie A.

According to da Leggo, the Roman giants are prepared to let the former Atletico Mineiro centre-back go out on-loan in the winter transfer window to try to regain full match sharpness and confidence following his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Before his illness the Brazil international was a mainstay in the heart of the Giallorossi defence, and formed a solid partnership with now Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia in the 2013/2014 season during I Lupi coach Rudi Garcia’s first season in charge in Rome.

Roma signed the Brazilian in 2012 from the Timao for €5.5 million and the defender has made 69 appearances in Serie A for the Romans.
