Walter ZengaSampdoria are about to sack coach Walter Zenga with the hope of replacing him with former Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella.

The Blucherchiati sit 10th in the Serie A table under Zenga but have failed to win any of their last three league matches reportedly prompting owner Massimo Ferrero to plan to terminate the contract of  55-year-old Zenga.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Ferrero is set to sack Zenga and name former club striker Montella as the new coach, but the issue may be complicated as Montella is still under contract with his former employers Fiorentina.

The Viola will likely demand €4.5 million to allow Montella to take over at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris with the two clubs already in negotiations to strike a deal.

Zenga only succeeded former coach Sinisa Mihajlovic in the summer, but failed to take the Blucherchiati to the Europa League after a disastrous defeat in qualifying to Serbian side Vojvodina.
