Manchester City’s David Silva and Vincent Kompany are in serious doubt for Wednesday evening’s Champions League clash with Juventus, after both players were absent at the club’s training session on Tuesday.
Both Silva and Kompany missed Saturday evening’s 4-1 Premier League loss at the hands of Liverpool, with hopes of a return to the lineup for the Group D clash at the Juventus Stadium slowly evaporating.
The duo have struggled for fitness this season, the Spaniard in particular, having featured in just five of City’s 13 Premier League games in addition to just two Champions League fixtures.
Both teams come into Wednesday’s match separated by only one point, with the Bianconeri trailing their English counterparts, despite earning a 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester during their first matchup.
A win for Manchester City would see them qualify from Group D in first position, while a victory for the Old Lady would secure qualification and place them in prime position ahead of their final group match against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanches-Pizjuan Stadium.
