English Premier League club West Ham United could make a January move for Roma forward Seydou Doumbia.

The Ivorian striker is currently on loan at Russian giants CSKA Moscow, enjoying a much richer vein of form than he experienced whilst at the Stadio Olimpico.

As a result, English outfit West Ham United have registered their interest and could shell out up to €20 million to bring the striker to east-London, according to Corriere dello Sport.

West Ham co-owner David Gold is said to be looking to pull off a major coup in the January transfer window and is eager to add a prolific striker to his squad.

However, CSKA remain in pole position and could yet make the loan permanent, with club director Roman Babaev unfazed by the Hammers’ reported interest.

“The negotiations with Roma over Doumbia are still at a very early stage,” Babaev told the Russian news agency Tass.

“We have until the end of December to make our decision known to the Giallorossi.

“We’ve read about West Ham in the Italian newspapers, but we haven’t even been notified about any interest whatsoever.”

Doumbia has registered nine goals and five assists in all competitions so far this season.
