destroBologna completed a shock 3-2 win over Napoli at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in their Sunday morning Serie A fixture.

A brace from Mattia Destro and one for Luca Rossettini looked to seal the win, before Gonzalo Higuain scored twice late in the game.

Despite their imperious form, Maurizio Sarri hadn’t counted on the resurgence under Roberto Donadoni. A long ball over the top from Amadou Diawara was pounced on by Mattia Destro, who avoided the challenge of Raul Albiol and slotted his shot past Reina.

It got 10 times worse for the Azzurri not long after, as Luca Rossettini was left unmarked from a corner and simply had to follow through with a thundering header past Reina.

Insigne had one of the chances of the half for Napoli. A great delivery from Marek Hamsik into the box found the winger, but he sent his header straight at Antonio Mirante. Shortly after the former Parma shot-stopper came to the rescue again, turning a vicious shot from Jose Callejon onto the post.

In the second half it was more of the same. Hamsik found Gonzalo Higuain free in the area, but the Argentinian squandered the opportunity. Allan had two chances to bag himself a goal, but Mirante and Daniele Gastaldello denied him on both occasions.

However, it was all to be in vain as Destro netted his second of the game.

The striker intercepted a Hamsik back-pass and sent it goal-bound speculatively, but Reina didn’t deal with it and could only parry it into his own net.

It should have been more but for the miss from Anthony Mounier, blazing over the bar from point-blank range.

Higuain popped up at the end to guide his header past Mirante, and then slotted home a wonderful pass from Hamsik to put late pressure on the hosts but they hung on for the win.
