Insigne NapoliNapoli assistant coach Francesco Calzona is delighted with his team’s impressive record in the Europa League this season and is looking forward to the Serie A game with Roma at the weekend.

As part of the Partenopei’s ongoing press silence, coach Maurizio Sarri didn’t speak to reporters following the 5-2 victory over Legia Warsaw on Thursday night, with the responsibility handed over to the team’s assistant coach.

“Sarri is fine, it was a planned action, UEFA was aware of it before the game,” Nicola Lombardo, Napoli’s director of communications, told the press before Calzona spoke.

The Italian was first questioned on striker Dries Mertens, who scored twice in the victory over the Polish side in Europe.

“Mertens played well, he is an important weapon for us now and for future games, both in Serie A and in cups,” Calzona said.

After they scored five against Legia, Napoli kept their impressive record of getting five goals in every home match of the group stage this season, along with winning six games out of six, which Calzona is pleased about.

“We are very happy, we knew we had a great attack,” Calzona added.

“We are surprised to have ended the group stages with a perfect record.

“I am satisfied as the players have put in a great performance.”

Calzona ended the press conference by talking about Napoli’s next game against rivals Roma.

“We now will turn our attention to the game against Roma,” Calzona continued

“We were focused on the game against Legia, but Roma will be our main thought by Friday morning.”
