3-0 thumping away to Empoli.
Massimo Maccarone netted a brace and Riccardo Saponara added a third to end their suffering.
“In the first half we started well, we closed down avenues Empoli had at goal,” Castori began.
“We had our chances in front of goal, but couldn’t make them count and suffered as a result.
“In the second half we lost focus, we are disappointed with how it all went out of our hands.
“We thought we could get another positive result today, but we have to put this behind us.”
A Coppa Italia fixture awaits Carpi now with Fiorentina between them and advancement to the next round.
“We’re preparing for Fiorentina, it is important we don’t lose confidence,” Castori concluded.
Carpi will welcome Juventus to the Stadio Alberto Braglia before the Christmas break in Serie A.
