Maccarone empoli juventusEmpoli coach Marco Giampaolo praised his side’s patience as they picked up a comfortable 3-0 win over Carpi.

Massimo Maccarone netted twice and Riccardo Saponara added a third to complete their third consecutive league win.

“Carpi were very compact at the back, we all had to be patient to find the breakthrough,” Giampaolo told Radio Rai.

“The players have performed well and were excellent for 70 minutes, before playing too individually near the end.

“I hope we can continue with this run, we brought in good players in the summer and it has been a work in progress.”

Saponara has been linked with a move away from the Tuscan side, having only re-joined Empoli in the summer.

“The transfer window is long and can be unbalancing, we have to try and keep the same group,” Giampaolo continued.

“Anything can change when the market is open, but we have to do what is best for the club.”

Empoli now travel to face Bologna with hopes of ending the year with four consecutive Serie A wins.
