Fiorentina were 3-0 winners over Udinese in their Sunday afternoon Serie A fixture at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Goals from Nikola Kalinic, Josip Ilicic and Gonzalo Rodriguez mean La Viola finish the weekend second in the Serie A standings.

Nikola Kalinic had the first chance of the game, receiving the ball from Federico Bernardeschi in the box and went to shoot, but had it smothered by Orestis Karnezis. Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu had a chance when Cyril Thereau found the Ghanaian in the area, but he sent his shot just wide of Ciprian Tatarusanu in the Fiorentina goal.

Karnezis was soon undone after by a strike from Milan Badelj. The Croatian sent it goal-ward from range, deflecting of Kalinic to give La Viola the lead; the striker was indeed credited with the goal.

The Zebrette quickly rallied and started causing Fiorentina some problems. A free kick from Francesco Lodi floated all the way to the back post, where Silvan Widmer rattled the post with a headed attempt. Kalinic skied an effort from three yards just before half time.

In the second half, the home side looked to add to their lead, but Udinese remained resolute in their defensive solidity. However it all came to nothing when Badu fouled Kalinic in the box. Josip Ilicic stepped up and curled his penalty past Karnezis to double the score.

Not all hope was lost for the visitors, but they must have thought otherwise when substitute Antonio Di Natale squandered a brilliant chance. The striker, normally so lethal for Udinese, sent a shot from point blank range skyward when Widmer found him in the box.

Marcos Alonso almost inadvertently put his cross into the back of the net, before Gonzalo Rodriguez wrapped up the win with a wonderful headed goal from a late corner.
