Fiorentina are reportedly keen on signing Empoli defender Lorenzo Tonelli and star midfielder Riccardo Saponara in the January transfer window.
La Viola unexpectedly find themselves in the middle of a fight for the Scudetto and are looking to strengthen their squad in January, to help compete with the likes of Inter and Juventus.
According to La Nazione, the Gigliati are very close to signing Tonelli but they would also like to purchase the impressive Saponara, who is believed to be one Italy’s top young midfielders.
Fiorentina are thought to be willing to offer around €14 million for the 23-year-old and will also offer Uruguayan striker Jaime Baez on loan for the rest of the season to sweeten the deal.
Saponara has been in fine form this season; scoring five goals and creating another five assists.
