Frosinone GenoaTwo teams hoping to distance themselves from the relegation zone will do battle on Sunday afternoon as Frosinone host Chievo at the Stadio Matusa.

The Canarini currently sit in 17th place in the Serie A table while the Flying Donkeys occupy 13th spot. Despite Chievo’s mid-table position, a mere two points separate the sides.

Frosinone are fresh on the heels of a 3-2 victory against Hellas Verona. Their win last weekend in Serie A  was their first since the 2-1 win against Carpi in late October.

After a positive start to the campaign, points have been difficult to come by for Chievo who have been victorious only once over their last nine matches. A deflating 3-2 home loss to Udinese last week will do little to raise the morale of the team.

These two sides have never played each other in Serie A before. The last time they met in was during the 2007/2008 Serie B campaign, when Chievo were victorious on both occasions. The teams also met in the 2009 edition of the Coppa Italia when Chievo once again found themselves on the winning end, despite being reduced to ten men early on.

Frosinone will have to make do without the services of Leonardo Blanchard who is suspended. The Gialloazzurri also have injuries to Daniel Pavlovic and Adriano Russo, however, both players are expected to be ready to return in the next week or two.

The Gialloblu will be without Frederico Mattiello who is set to be out injured for another month. Chievo will also be without Bostjan Cesar who is suspended.
