Mario Gomez has insisted he is happy in Istanbul with Turkish outfit Besiktas and has no intentions of returning to Italy.

The 30-year-old has rediscovered his goalscoring form in Turkey scoring 10 goals in 17 games, which has seen him earn a recall to the German national team. The former Bayern Munich player is supposedly planning to remain with Besiktas and is not in favour of a move back to Fiorentina when his season-long loan deal ends.

“I have no desire of returning to Italy,” Gomez told tvemhaber.com.

“I’m happy here.

“Previously Munich was the city where I was happiest, but now it’s Istanbul.

“Even my girlfriend loves it here.

“The facilities are fantastic, I didn’t have that environment in Italy.

“There wasn’t even a proper hotel in the small town we went for pre-season, when I was at Fiorentina.”
