Inter are prepared to offer an escape route to unhappy Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The Serbian has endured a poor start to the season, arguably costing his side numerous goals during their stuttering campaign so far, and has entered a dispute with his employers over a new contract.

Instead of having to continue negotiations with Chelsea, Inter are proposing that the player signs a pre-agreement with the Nerazzurri with a fresh two-year deal awaiting in Milan, according to the London Evening Standard.

So far, it is believed that the player’s agent is very open to the prospect having heard from Roberto Mancini’s team.

Ivanovic has won nine honours in seven years in London for Chelsea, making 225 English Premier League appearances along the way.

He was made captain of his national side Serbia in 2012 in recognition of his service and leadership qualities.
