Inter defender Yuto Nagatomo has revealed that he would love to sign a contract extension with the Biscione if the opportunity were to arrive.
The 29-year-old, whose current deal with the Nerazzurri is set to expire in June 2016, had been steadily linked with a move away from the Milan side ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, though he insists that he’d prefer to stay with the club and play in the Champions League next season.
Nagatomo spoke to Nikkan Sports about the possibility of signing a renewal and commented on Inter’s goals for the season.
“Last summer’s market? It was not easy to make a choice on where I’d play,” said the Japan international.
“I knew it would be tough, but I chose to stay at Inter and was sure that I’d fall into place in Roberto Mancini’s plans.
“Is a renewal possible? I love Inter and I’m comfortable playing with my team-mates. If there is availability and the club want to keep me, then I’d be willing to talk about a renewal.
“I’m confident and I would be happy to stay here. At the moment, we’re in first place in the Serie A with the goal of winning the title.
“I would also like to stay here and play in the Champions League next season.”
