drew 1-1 against Saint-Etienne in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Alessandro Matri’s goal helped the Biancocelesti remain unbeaten in their group, finishing in first place with the knockout draw on Monday.

“We played well,” Pioli told Lazio Radio.

“It is just a shame we could not hold on until the end. We have to be more precise in our play in the final moments of matches.

“Overall though they played some good football. We will see who we get on Monday in the draw as there are a lot of good teams we could play.

“Now it will become a very tough competition with the main clubs all involved.”

Lazio had recently lost to Empoli and Juventus in Serie A, but continued their good form in Europe.

“The response was positive,” he added.

“The team wanted to attack and defend successfully against a very physical team.

“We close the group stages satisfied with what we have done.

“Now we just have to return to winning ways in the league.”
