upset Serie A’s high-flying Sassuolo in the Coppa Italia on Thursday evening.

Rossoblu striker Marco Sau scored the only goal of the game in his 100th appearance for the club in a deserved victory to see them into the last 16 of the domestic cup.

“It was a deserved victory,” Rastelli told Rai Sport.

“Perhaps it was unexpected too. The guys played out a superb match. I am very happy because of this.”

Rastelli’s team will meet Inter in the next round, with the tactician dedicating the win to their currently injured captain Daniele Dessena.

“I’m pleased because not only do we face Inter, but the response after last week[a 4-0 defeat to Brescia] is brilliant.

“Many of the players today were new due to injuries such as [Santiago]Colombatto, who showed his worth.

“We dedicate this win to our captain Dessena, who we visited today in hospital.

“He most likely followed us on the TV tonight and will be happy for us getting through to the next round.”
