Rigoni - Palermo v SassuoloNew Genoa signing Luca Rigoni has revealed his delight at completing his switch to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris from Palermo.

The midfielder’s move to the Rossoblu has been finalised ahead of the opening of the January transfer window, as his new side prepare to return to Serie A action against city rivals Sampdoria on January 5.

“I am happy to be here,” the departing Palermo midfielder said to Sky Sport Italia. “For a long time I have dreamt of wearing this shirt.”

With the Derby della Lanterna just a week away, Rigoni is targetting the fixture as a chance to impress the Grifone supporters as soon as he can.

“I can’t wait to start this new adventure,” he said.

“I want to make myself available for the derby.”

Before concluding, the 31-year-old expressed his gratitude to club president Enrico Preziosi.

“I have received a lot of offers, but playing for Genoa has always been my dream.

“I would like to thank the president for showing an interest in me.”

Rigoni arrived at Palermo in 2014, having spent six years at Chievo before moving to the Sicilian side.
