garcia romaRoma coach Rudi Garcia has refused to blame the referee after a late penalty decision cost the Giallorossi all three points against Torino.

Miralem Pjanic looked to have sealed a win for Garcia, but Maxi Lopez converted his injury-time spot kick to ensure the pair shared the spoils.

“Before we start blaming the referee we need to see if we could have done better,” Garcia told Sky Sport Italia. “Especially considering we scored first. We could have done more when going forward.

“If the referee isn’t certain of a penalty, then he shouldn’t award it. However the ball should never find its way into that position.”

The Frenchman was also optimistic about the injured Gervinho, who was replaced by Juan Manuel Iturbe in the first half.

“Gervinho was in good condition, I have confidence in my medical team and we will wait the exam results,” Garcia added.

He also stressed that his side must move on from this latest result, and focus on their Champions League clash against Bate Borisov on Wednesday.

“We faced a team with a good defensive attitude today and although we responded well in the second half the result is still a shame,” he concluded.

“There is nothing we can do now, we have to prepare for our midweek Champions League fixture.”
