Stoke City are reportedly interested in signing the Spanish midfielder David Lopez from Napoli in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old has struggled to find a regular starting place during his second season with the Partenopei although he has been utilised often from the bench.
According to Tuttosport, the Premier League side have made an approach to Napoli as they consider a move in the winter window.
However, it will likely be difficult for the Potters to reach an agreement as president Aurelio De Laurentiis does not want to let the Spaniard leave halfway through what has been a successful season so far.
Lopez has made 19 appearances in all competitions and registered one assist.
The 26-year-old has made six starts in the Europa League but he has been more of a squad player in the league where he has started just twice, although has been brought on as a substitute on 11 occasions.
