Icardi Udinese InterInter defeated Udinese 4-0 at the Stadio Friuli on Saturday night to stay top of the Serie A table.

The Biscione made a strong start to the game and took the lead in the 23rd minute through Mauro Icardi. The Nerazurri’s lead was then doubled in the 31st minute through a delightful Stevan Jovetic goal. The second-half was less intriguing as Inter shut up shop, yet two stunning goals in two minutes, starting in the 83rd minute, from Icardi and Marcelo Brozovic sealed the win for Roberto Mancini’s team.

Inter made a lightning start to the match and almost opened the scoring in the sixth minute.

Ivan Perisic was played in behind the Zebrette defence and the Croatian slid the ball back to Stevan Jovetic, but the Serbian fired his shot straight at Orestis Karnezis, when he had the goal at his mercy.

Udinese responded in strong fashion. The Nerazzurri failed to clear a corner and the ball found it’s way to Cyril Thereau whose whipped shot was saved confidently by Samir Handanovic.

However, it was Inter who took the lead. A poor back pass by Bruno Fernandes to Muarizio Domizzi, was picked off by a sprightly Icardi, who ran through an drove his effort past Karnezis.

Udinese were not demoralised and Antonio Di Natale almost equalised in the 27th minute. Thereau waltzed past two Inter defenders before pulling the ball back to Di Natale, who whilst losing his footing, drew a comfortable save from Handanovic.

Yet, some more shocking defending from Domizzi let Inter score again. Domizzi gave the ball straight to Jovetic who ran through one on one with Karnezis. The Serbian then cutely chipped Karnezis to double the Nerazzurri’s lead.

The second-half was less eventful, with the first real chance coming in the 70th minute. Silvan Widmer’s low cross was dropped by Handanovic, the ball fell to Manuel Iturra with the goal gaping but he somehow shot wide.

However, it was Inter who would win the game as Icardi sealed the three points with a truly fierce effort which flew past a sorry Karnezis.

Two minutes later Brozovic was allowed to cut in from the left-wing and he curled a stunning shot past Karnezis.

The result leaves Udinese 14th in the table, while Inter remain the leaders in Serie A.
