Having a duo of veteran goalkeepers to help develop AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is of great benefit, claims the youngster.
The 16-year-old has broken into the first-team at the Stadio San Siro in an exceptional 2015/16, having expected to be understudy to Diego Lopez and Christian Abbiati, who has been at the club since 1998.
“The relationship I have with both Diego Lopez and Abbiati is good and they often give me their advice,” said Donnarumma to the official AC Milan website.
A mini resurgence in form has secured the Rossoneri sixth-place and the goalkeeper is pleased with last weekend’s victory over Fiorentina, but is taking it game by game with a derby clash with Inter looming.
“The win against Fiorentina gave us a morale boost, we were all very good,” said Donnarumma.
“We do think about the derby but first we have to beat Empoli and Alessandria.”
